Quant Abbreviation for Quantitative Analyst, a specialist who engages in quantitative management.
Quantitative Management An approach to investment management which seeks to use statistical or numerical methods to create efficient portfolios, with the optimum risk/return trade-off. Quantitative managers generally attempt to add value by exploiting pricing anomalies, or by providing particular levels of risk control, rather than by subjective forecasting of market behaviour.
Quartile A statistical measure dividing a sample into four numerically equal groups. Thus, 'top quartile' means the top 25% of a given sample. (See also Decile, Percentile).
Quotation Often shortened to `quote'. See Bid-Asked.
